Official Tutorama Contest Rules
By participating in Tutorama, you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of these Rules, as well as all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree to these Rules, you may not participate in Tutorama.
1. You agree to license any and all submitted works under the GNU Free Documentation License ("GFDL") (http://www.gnu.org/licenses/fdl.txt). This license will apply without limitation to any print, electronic, and multimedia formats, as well as all other methods of creating and distributing media.
2. You agree to allow Macinstruct to reprint, publicize, and market your work(s) worldwide for the life of such work(s). The life of your work(s) will be determined by Macinstruct at its sole discretion.
3. You retain all copyright interests to your work(s), provided those interests do not infringe upon Macinstruct's rights and/or the GFDL.
4. All contest submissions must be in English.
5. All contest submissions must include your full name, email address, phone number, and mailing address. Macinstruct will not disclose your phone number or mailing address under any circumstances, and will protect this personal information using industry-standard technologies.
6. You may not submit entries under pseudonyms. Any works found to be submitted under pseudonyms will be disqualified.
7. All contest submissions must be emailed to tutorama@macinstruct.com. You will receive a contest-entry acknowledgment, via email, within twenty-four (24) hours. If you do not receive this acknowledgment, your entry has not been received by Macinstruct and will not be eligible.
8. All contest submissions must be educational in nature, and concern Apple hardware and software products and/or third-party products for Apple hardware and software products.
9. The format of contest submissions is at the sole discretion of contestants. However, entries that do not lend themselves to electronic publishing on Macinstruct (i.e., disregard and/or overwrite Macinstruct's template and CSS style sheet) may not be published on Macinstruct, at Macinstruct's sole discretion.
10. Individuals may submit as many contest submissions as they like. However, contest submissions cannot be combined, and all entries will be judged individually.
11. You may not have more than one winning entry. If the judges determine that one of your entries is a winning entry, the rest of your entries will be disqualified.
12. All contest submissions will be published anonymously. Submissions which display names, faces, and/or other personal and identifying information in a format that is uneditable may be disqualified, at Macinstruct's sole discretion.
13. At no time will the judges be provided with your full name, email address, phone number, and/or mailing address.
14. After the winners have been announced and the prizes have been awarded, all authors' names will be published on their respective work(s).
15. Macinstruct reserves the right to not publish any submission for any reason, including, but not limited to, plagiarism, unintelligibility, and an intolerable number of spelling and/or grammatical errors.
16. Macinstruct reserves the right to edit contest submissions for spelling and/or grammatical errors.
17. Every contest submission will be judged in its original, unedited state, regardless of any modifications and/or changes Macinstruct makes to the work(s).
18. Contestants are not allowed to make modifications or revisions to their work(s) once they have submitted said work(s). You are strongly advised to proofread and revise your entries before submitting them.
19. Individuals Macinstruct considered to be Macinstruct staff members prior to January 21, 2007, are ineligible. Individuals judging Tutorama are also ineligible.
20. Neither Macinstruct nor Tutorama judges will provide you with personal advice, suggestions, or assistance. Do not solicit advice from Macinstruct or Tutorama judges. Work(s) found to be doctored, proofread, or otherwise revised by Macinstruct staff members and/or Tutorama judges prior to submission will be automatically disqualified.
21. Plagiarism will not be tolerated. If you believe your work has been plagiarized, please email tutorama@macinstruct.com immediately. Macinstruct will aggressively investigate all claims with seventy-two (72) hours, and, if Macinstruct finds any work(s) that have been plagiarized, Macinstruct will promptly remove the offending work(s) and disqualify them.
22. While Macinstruct strongly suggests that judges remain open-minded and unbiased, it cannot control the criteria by which judges evaluate contest submissions. You are strongly advised to read all individual judge profiles to familiarize yourself with how our judges judge.
23. Void where prohibited by law, including the countries of Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Sudan and Syria.
24. Tutorama is open to individuals 13 years of age or older at time of entry. Individuals younger than 18 years of age must have parental consent to participate in Tutorama.
25. Tutorama begins at 12 AM on January 23, 2007 and ends at 12 AM on May 20, 2007. Late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances.
26. Winners will be announced on June 3, 2007.
27. There will be four Tutorama winners: First Place, Second Place, Third Place, and People's Choice. Total approximate retail value of all prizes is $3939.52.
28. Judges will select the first-place, second-place, and third-place winners. The People's Choice will be awarded to the author of the contest submission that receives the most votes, on the Macinstruct website, between May 21, 2007 and June 2, 2007.
29. The first-place winner will be awarded a Mac Mini (1.66Ghz Intel Core Duo, 512MB, 60GB hard drive), BBEdit, Yojimbo, OmniGraffle Professional, OmniOutliner Professional, Launch2Net, a personally-signed copy of "iWoz," a personally-signed copy of "The Cult of Mac," a personally-signed copy of "Apple Confidential," a personally-signed copy of "Mac OS X Help Line," a personally-signed copy of "Robin Williams Design Workshop," a personally-signed copy of "Real World Mac Maintenance and Backups," and a personally-signed complete collection of the Take Control library of eBooks. Total approximate retail value of first-place prizes is $1314.88.
30. The second-place winner will be awarded an iPod (30GB, black or white at Macinstruct's discretion), BBEdit, Yojimbo, OmniGraffle Professional, OmniOutliner Professional, Launch2Net, a personally-signed copy of "iWoz," a personally-signed copy of "The Cult of Mac," a personally-signed copy of "Apple Confidential," a personally-signed copy of "Mac OS X Help Line," a personally-signed copy of "Robin Williams Design Workshop," a personally-signed copy of "Real World Mac Maintenance and Backups," and a personally-signed complete collection of the Take Control library of eBooks. Total approximate retail value of second-place prizes is $964.88.
31. The third-place winner will be awarded an iPod Nano (2GB), BBEdit,
Yojimbo, OmniGraffle Professional, OmniOutliner Professional, Launch2Net, a personally-signed copy of "iWoz," a personally-signed copy of "The Cult of Mac," a personally-signed copy of "Apple Confidential," a personally-signed copy of "Mac OS X Help Line," a personally-signed copy of "Robin Williams Design Workshop," a personally-signed copy of "Real World Mac Maintenance and Backups," and a personally-signed complete collection of the Take Control library of eBooks. Total approximate retail value of third-place prizes is $864.88.
32. The People's Choice winner will be awarded an iPod Shuffle, BBEdit,
Yojimbo, OmniGraffle Professional, OmniOutliner Professional, Launch2Net, a personally-signed copy of "iWoz," a personally-signed copy of "The Cult of Mac," a personally-signed copy of "Apple Confidential," a personally-signed copy of "Mac OS X Help Line," a personally-signed copy of "Robin Williams Design Workshop," a personally-signed copy of "Real World Mac Maintenance and Backups," and a personally-signed complete collection of the Take Control library of eBooks. Total approximate retail value of People's Choice prizes is $794.88.
33. Prizes will be mailed to winners within sixty (60) days after the end of the contest. In the event a prize is not available, another prize of equal or greater value will be substituted, at Macinstruct's sole discretion.
34. You warrant that any work(s) you create for Tutorama are original and do not infringe any intellectual property rights or violate any laws related to libel, privacy, or otherwise. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Macinstruct in any action arising out of, or relating to, these representations and warranties.
35. Macinstruct is an independent website and has not been authorized, sponsored, or otherwise approved by Apple Inc. All trademarks are the property of their respective holders.
